Description: We are delighted to announce that this year’s Coast to Coast Cycle Challenge will take place on Sunday 5th September to kick start Air Ambulance Week 2021. Will you take on the challenge and raise vital funds for our life-saving charity? Due to moving the date from May to September because of the COVID-19 pandemic, our normal starting point of Watchet Harbour is not available this year and therefore our 2021 event will start from Washford Cross Park and Ride in Watchet, Somerset. This will take just over a mile off the normal route which finishes in the beautiful Dorset seaside resort of West Bay. Once again, we are limiting the number of cyclists to 600, with the option of taking part in two different routes and distances: 55 miles - commencing at Washford Cross Park and Ride (Watchet) and finishing at Station Yard Car Park in West Bay. 11 miles - commencing at Royal Oak Pub (Drimpton) and also finishing in West Bay. Our Coast to Coast Cycle Challenge is sold out every year, often within a few days of online registration being open. As last year’s event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be more demand than ever, so you’ll have to be quick to gain a place! As this is our only charity-run fundraising event, we are strongly encouraging those who are fortunate to have gained a place, to raise additional funds through sponsorship. Because our Coast to Coast Cycle Challenge is designed to be a challenge and not a race, there is no pressure on those who are amateur or occasional cyclists; it attracts cyclists of all ages and abilities. Pitstops situated at various locations along the route, will once again provide a well-earned rest and refreshments for the cyclists who take part. With the support of West Somerset and West Dorset District Councils, Avon and Somerset and Dorset Police, we pride ourselves on offering an event which is registered and insured with British Cycling.
