Description: The Arts Centre becomes the main focus of an arts festival at the end of June with the launch of Shaftesbury’s answer to the Edinburgh Fringe, already becoming the third largest Fringe event in England!
Taking its inspiration from the famous Scottish festival of the performing arts, Shaftesbury Fringe is an open access event for performers in any and every genre from music and dance to circus, magic, mime, poetry, painting, sculpture and street theatre.
Performance spaces at the Arts Centre feature as some of the 50 plus venues in Shaftesbury taking part in the event, which coincides with Gold Hill Fair.
Organiser Andy Tebbutt-Russell, an Edinburgh Fringe veteran says:
“We are hoping to attract performers and artistes of every sort, from the spoken word to comedy and childrens' shows, from painters to poets. You name it and we hope to have it. Performers don’t have to be local. We are open to performers from anywhere and of any culture.
Shaftesbury has already taken the festival to its heart. The large number of venues in Shaftesbury that have agreed to take part means the choice of venues for both performers and public is enormous.”
Performers wanting to take part can contact organiser Andy Tebbutt-Russell
