Description: On Saturday 14 December, Weymouth Choral Society is proud to present its annual Christmas concert, to be held at St John’s Church, Weymouth. A very special evening indeed, as we are thrilled to have with us Dame Joan Bakewell, to read some suitable poems and literary extracts to complement the musical offerings. The members of theChoral Society are also delighted to welcome back theirpopular guests, Weymouth Concert Brass. A brass band is perhaps one of the most festive sounds at Christmas and together with the choral items and readings we aim to provide a packed programme of seasonal songs and holiday treats for the whole family. As well as the traditional congregational carols, other numbers will includefavourites such as ‘O Holy Night’, the sparkling ‘Star Carol’ by John Rutter, the uplifting ‘Gaudete’ and serene ‘Silent Night’. Pianist Louise Dukes will be accompanying the choir. The programme promises an evening of great variety and different musical styles as we share with you the contemplative and celebratory aspects of the Christmas season.
