Description: Canadian singer-songwriter, Stephen Fearing is, without question, one of the finest around; he is one of the world's best.
We are so lucky that he is once again stopping off in Weymouth on his 2018 UK/European tour to perform at one of the town's loveliest buildings.
A multi-award winning singer-songwriter, he is the master of the finely turned phrase and perfectly pitched line. His voice is dark and rich, his stories compelling and his geniality second to none.
Like most contemporary songwriters, Stephen is not bound by any particular musical genre, and his last album, 'Every Soul's A Sailor' continues this exploration of various musical forms, as does his continued participation in the highly successful Canadian roots rock super group, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings.
Over the course of his celebrated career he has collaborated with a long list of artists including: Nick Lowe, Shawn Colvin, Richard Thompson, Bruce Cockburn, Sarah McLachlan and many more. Although born in Vancouver, Stephen spent most of his boyhood and teenage years in Ireland, where he picked up the guitar and traces of the Irish and English musical traditions that have informed his music ever since.
What is telling about a great songwriter's work is the ability for their lyrics to stand on their own; left without context, or musical backdrop, the words still flow and have meaning. Stephen Fearing's work does just that and throughout his career, he has penned some of the most literate, stirring and emotionally charged music on the planet. Add to this his stunning, celebrated guitar work and you have the elements of a unique performer; one of the best you will ever see.
