Description: Disney’s much-loved classic will come to life this evening when Fantasia will be shown on our big screen, accompanied by live organ improvisation from Jonathan Hope. Fantasia was first released in 1940 and consists of eight animated sequences set to classical music. Segments include the Nutcracker Suite, Dance of the Hours and Mickey Mouse as the Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
Jonathan Hope is one of the most dynamic young organists of his generation. He studied at the Royal College of Music, London with Margaret Phillips and Sophie-Véronique Cauchefer-Choplin. He became Assistant Director of Music at Gloucester Cathedral in March 2014, where he is the principal organist for the cathedral services.
